All Star Cheerleading

We have two great programs for your child interested in cheer!

All Star Cheer

We are in the middle of our current All Star season!
Placements for the 2020-2021 season will be held in May of 2020!

All Star Elite Cheerleading is for the dedicated athlete who wants to compete! The skill levels range from 1 to 5 with 5 being the most advanced. Athletes will learn a two-and-a-half-minute choreographed routine designed to showcase jumps, stunting, tumbling, and dancing at the athlete’s highest ability. Routines are judged by their level of difficulty, precision, creativity, and technique. Teams will travel to between 4 and 6 competitions in South Dakota, as well as the surrounding states. Athletes will practice 2 hours per day, twice a week. The competitive season runs November-March with practices being year around.

Teams are formed by a combination of similar age and skill level. Much like other sports, a variety of skills, abilities, and athleticism are necessary to give each team the best opportunity to succeed in the gym and at competitions. Some factors the coaching staff consider when placing athletes on a team are maturity, coach-ability, stunting position, jump/motion technique, and danceability. With these in mind, the coaching staff will place athletes on the most appropriate team for them to excel. The placement of athletes with their unique strengths allow the coaching staff to build a well-rounded team. The age and skill requirements for All-Star Elite are listed below.

Half Year Cheer

Looking for your child to participate in cheer but not ready for an all star season? Check back in November 2020 for our Half Year Prep!

All-Star prep is perfect for the beginner or those interested in joining a competitive cheer team with less of a commitment than our All Star Elite teams. Our prep teams are half season teams which means they will only compete for the 2 nd half of the All Star season (February-March). Fewer competitions and limited weekly practices allow athletes to be competitive, but with a much lower financial commitment. Athletes will learn a two-minute choreographed routine showcasing jumps, stunting, tumbling, and dancing. Prep teams will travel to three competitions within South Dakota and compete against other teams at their age level. Routines are judged by level of difficulty, precision, creativity, and technique. Prep teams will also show off their skills at one local performance. Athletes practice 2 hours, once a week. Their competitive season will run February-March with practice beginning in December. It is suggested that you be enrolled in a recreational cheer or tumbling class prior to placements, but my no means required!?

At Rushmore Athletics, we believe there is a spot for everyone wanting to be a part of a prep team! Teams are formed  by a combination of similar age and
skill level. Much like other sports, a variety of skills, abilities, and athleticism are necessary to give each team the best opportunity to succeed in the gym and at competitions. Some factors the coaching staff consider when placing athletes on a team are maturity, coachability, stunting position, jump/motion technique, and danceability. With these in mind, the coaching staff will place athletes on the most appropriate team for them to excel.
